We have had the best weather this week. In Amarillo, Texas you don't often get to make that statement, so we definitely got out to enjoy it! The two little ones and I ventured out to the zoo yesterday. I doubt Lane remembered going last year so watching him was a treat. He loved everything!
With such great weather and being the morning feeding time, most of the animals were up and about. The turtle was even moving around. We know we won't see him moving much this summer when it is 100 degrees everyday! He seems to be wondering why we are looking at him!
It wouldn't be a trip to the zoo, if you didn't see the pigeons?!?!
The kids liked the miniature horse.
Macy says these guys were being friends. Lane says they are loving each other.
The children will argue if you tell them these are wallabies. They are just "wittle bitty" kangaroos.
Some grey foxes
Macy's favorite - the Bengal Tiger
Seeing your child inches from a bear is just odd. The bear was just sitting on a rock, looking like he was sitting up in a chair. He didn't hardly move when the kids went up to him.
It would have been an even better experience and a picture if the glass wasn't so nasty. However, I don't think I would volunteer to get in the bear cage with the Windex either!
For some reason this guy is always a favorite for my kids. Macy talked about him for weeks last year. This year Lane was fascinated with the mecock. Nope not a peacock . . . a mecock. I have given up arguing with a toddler.
There were 3 thirsty lions. The male was off to the side. I guess these gals were first!
Here is my Lanie at the playground. The playground is always a good way to wrap up our trip.

A little too tired. . .
I have the best picture . . . but I can't post it. You will just have to close your eyes and imagine a precious little girl, wearing a Texas Tech cheerleader outfit, peacefully sleeping . . . on the toilet.
Macy has decided lately that naps are no longer for her. She has also been dealing with allergies, a bit of a runny nose and a slight cough. Both of which lead to a cranky baby girl. The last two days she has thrown a fit in the evening like which I have never seen. And mind you, I have 3 children, and I have taught in daycares, preschools, and public schools.
Sunday night, after a full and exhaustive day at the river, Macy became hysterical over a bedtime story. She was so enraged that she made herself vomit. Her, slightly more enraged, mother, made her clean it up. This didn't go well - trust me on this! However, I did triumph and she did go to sleep without anymore issues.
Last night, she became a crazed child over (you won't believe this) a piece of packing out of a set of mini-blinds. She was afraid I was going to suck up her precious piece of foam paper with the vacuum. She was grabbing the vacuum, turning it off, unplugging it, and generally just being hysterical. In 4 years, I haven't seen anything like this from her. It was Supernanny worthy! She was acting so crazy, Lane, Branson, and I were laughing at her. I know, I know - not smart. This didn't help anything. I did finally convince her that I had in no way harmed her trash and matter of fact I had thrown her trash in the trash before I ever started vacuuming. She fished it out of the trash can and put it in her backpack. Then I put her in bed. She went without a problem. She knew she needed the sleep.
About an hour later I sent Branson to brush his teeth. He comes running down the stairs laughing. Apparently, Macy had gotten up to use the restroom. She had made herself comfy on the potty and promptly fell asleep. Insert your previously stored picture her. I had to snap a picture, but as her mother and in my better judgement I have decided to keep the picture off the internet. In a Tech outfit, passed out on the potty . . . just lends itself to too many things!
If you are ever by my house, I would be happy to show you the picture.
Also you might ask yourself, "How could one be in the bathroom long enough to fall asleep?" To which I would respond that Macy's bathroom habits are a whole other blog post all by themselves.

Happy Valentine's Day
We have had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day this year. Branson had his party at school. There was a ton of sweets, candy, and chocolate. That would make anyone happy. His teacher, Mrs. Larkin, was happy because they were eating all this and then immediately going home to their parents!
Nee Nee of gave the kids some fun presents to celebrate with. Macy loves unwrapping!
Lane was excited to see firetrucks in his book.
Branson got an iTunes gift card. Weird Al here we come!
Of course there was more chocolate! And after a little comparing. . . .
