Branson started 3rd grade today. He is getting big right before my eyes. I can't believe that this is his 4th year in school already. He was just a baby yesterday - - really - - I swear. I guess it seems that way anyway.
Someone else thought she should be starting school today. I didn't tell her that I agreed. She has 2 more years! I don't know if she can wait that long. Or if I can.
He walked straight into his 3rd grade classroom and never looked back. I think my heart actually broke at that moment.

A Skatepark Alternative?
Well, our boys have officially discovered dirt! We usually go out to the concrete skate park at John Stiff park. But it seems there is somewhere else you can ride. There is a dirt / skatepark in Amarillo. There are some jumps and trails to ride. We went out there last weekend with some friends. I hadn't had a chance to get these pictures up until now! This is Daniel making one of the jumps.
This is our friend, Marc, making one of the jumps.
Here goes Branson!
Lane is carefully calculating how he is going to approach these jumps!

The other day Branson was riding Macy's bicycle and broke one of the training wheels. So we thought we would give Macy another go at riding. She did great! She seems to ride better without training wheels than with them. Hopefully she will keep it up and be going all over soon.
She did suffer a few falls.
But most often with a smile!

Austin!
As some of you know, we were planning to go to Austin at the end of last week. Well, TxDOT had other plans for Daniel. They decided to send him Tuesday night. Rather than have him go there, come back to Amarillo, and then go back to Austin again - - We all went early! During the first day there, we went to a park down by the water. Here is a picture of my oldest deep in thought.
Here is the baby - - not so deep in thought! He was just happy to be out of the car.
Sitting in the shade cooling off!
Branson was climbing a tree. He was laying down enjoying the cool, Austin weather! Anyone who has ever been there in August knows what a story that line was!
The next day we thought we would explore the Capital building. The kids were impressed with how tall the dome was.
Once again, they all happened to be in one spot and still, so I just had to note the occasion!
Here is a picture from the inside of the dome. The kids wondered how they got this stuff up there. I was just glad I didn't have to do it (or clean it!).
Branson along the fence on the way back to the car, ready for some yummy Austin cuisine!
If anyone wondered how you should deal with 3 children on a long car drive and keep your sanity, see the picture below. (Just kidding - of course) These kennels belong to Maddie and Brodie - James and Mhari's dogs. They were gracious enough to let us stay with them. I am not sure if I would have been able to stand people visiting me with their 3 kids before I had any. They were more than kind! Thank you again!
Just a cute picture of Macy. I thought I would throw it in for fun!
Here is another. She loved wearing Aunt Mhari's jewelry - she has her necklace here.
Here is Daniel and the dirt / skate park in Austin. We would have loved to have stayed here longer, but it was entirely too hot. We were all melting, and Daniel seriously almost passed out from the heat. I believe that the heat index was 113! He looks hot doesn't he?
On Sunday we visited Sea World in San Antonio. We saw some neat sharks.
He we were eating lunch. It was one of the lousier meals with a higher price tag. Hmmmmm amusement parks have you trapped don't they? It was still fun!
During one of the shows, a sea lion was reading the paper with his co-worker/ trainer.
Lane was enthralled with the shows!
They had a walrus doing sit-ups for punishment for eating too many fish!
There were alligators too!
And Shamu of course!
It was amazing that these killer whales are so gentle. The trainer was swimming with and riding on Shamu.
They had a show with animals - abandoned animals - cats, dogs, pigs, horses, etc. The kids really liked this show!
We saw some amazing skiers. Makes me feel very uncoordinated.
Macy liked their outfits. Pink and green with ruffles! - that is the way to her heart!
I guess it is possible to have too much fun. She crashed hard for over an hour!
It was just dumb luck that I got this picture. I was looking for Dan, Jimmy, and Branson. I took this picture just on the off chance they might be riding it. They were!! They look a bit scared!
Here is another. She loved wearing Aunt Mhari's jewelry - she has her necklace here.
