March for Babies

This past weekend Lane and I participated in the March of Dimes' March for Babies. I was amazed at the terrific turnout. I believe there were around 2500 people marching. Every where you looked there were people who were directly effected. There were people celebrating their own healthy children. People were happy to have their little NICU graduates. Families mourning the loss of children born too soon.

Most of you know I am a member of MOM's Club, a national group with a chapter here in Amarillo. In this past year we have had two mothers lose their babies, so this was a cause close to each of our own hearts. The last part of our walk, The Memory Mile, was particularly touching, as there were signs remembering those children who were taken too soon. My heart goes out to any family having to cope with such a loss. I don't know where they find the strength. Thank you to those who donated to the cause - Sarah, Scott, and Anita. If anyone else is interested in donating- I am sure they will still take it :) I would hope that with advances in technology and medicine, more of these children will be able to grow up and have children of their own. This isn't the best picture, but the sun was so bright, I couldn't see the screen to even know what I was taking a picture of! We were coming up to the first turn and could finally see all the people who were walking in front of us.

Lane told me, "Stop." At this point he really didn't want to say, "Cheese!" He was AWESOME! He didn't fuss, whine, or want out the entire time. What a trooper!

The finish line! We had a super time, talking. visiting, and remembering - - I plan on doing it again next year. The 3.2 mile walk didn't feel like anything at all. We were only too happy to do it!

Home from Corpus

With the generous help of a lot of family, Daniel and I were able to get away for a couple of days. Daniel's work sent him to Corpus Christi for a few days for some classes. My dad gave me a pass to fly down and stay with him. I was able to sleep in, relax, and read while he was in class!!!! (a novel concept in itself with kids). When he was out of class, we were able to explore the area. Here is Dan out on a pier in the bay. It was incredibly windy - - yes, even by Amarillo standards! We ventured out and checked out the Lexington. I was amazed at the size. The picture doesn't do it justice. We spent 2 hours and were practically running through it. If you click on the picture, you can see cars next to it - - just for a reference point. HUGE!! There are about a dozen planes on the deck and it wasn't half full.

Well, yesterday NeeNee had her birthday. Her friends and family were able to come over to the house to wish her a good one. The kiddos were as excited for their NeeNee to have her birthday as they are for theirs. Here's wishing she had a great birthday and praying for an awesome year to come!

What's up this week . . .

Well it is becoming a habit. I am not updating as often as I would like, or need to for that matter. Then I am left doing a week in pictures. Well - - here goes for this week.

Here is our newest addition. Daniel and I saw it driving on day at lunch, and the next day it was ours! It has all the stuff done that Daniel usually does right before he sells one. This time he gets to enjoy someone else's work!

In order to have enough driveway room, Daniel is having to part with the Grand Am. I don't think he will be too broken up about it!

He recruited a little bit of help painting the Grand Am's hood.

Branson is getting the hang of both the airbrush and the sander. Dan can't wait for the day he can do it without supervision. Macy is patiently waiting for her turn with the power tools. I am glad I wasn't home.

Where was Lane during all this you might ask. Well, he is working on a different skill. I find it to be a more useful one at that, and Daniel might have been in real trouble had Lane been helping in the shop too.

He has NO clue what he is doing, but he thinks it is funny to sit there and stick toilet paper in the potty. But the most fun comes when you get to flush all the TP and wave bye-bye!~
